-in supporting the Alaska Coastal Management Program (ACMP) citizens' initiative to recreate a coastal zone management program for Alaska. We are the only maritime state without such a program, and that means we have no voice at the Federal level to give us a say in how our coastal lands and waters are developed. Support the ACMP initiative to make sure that Alaska's future is decided by people who will protect our state's interests and values -to make sure that future is decided by Alaskans.
When Alaska lost its coastal management program in the 2011 legislative session, we lost an important tool for influencing and shaping coastal development. The Alaska Sea Party is a grassroots group of Alaskans that is promoting a ballot initiative to recreate an Alaska coastal management program. During the winter of 2011-2012, Sea Party volunteers made history by coordinating the gathering of more than 30,000 petition signatures in less than a month so Alaskans can vote on the initiative in the 2012 election. Never before have so many of us spoken so quickly in support of an issue. The speed at which this effort took place is a clear indication of the importance of the ACMP to the people of Alaska.
We're prepared to go all the way, and with your help, Alaska will reclaim its voice. Vote YES on August 28th!
